The meeting began at 5:30 pm in room 2 a/b
Ms. Gonyer welcomed the new members. The Open Space & Recreation Committee members
introduced themselves and shared some of their background. The group then discussed the charge and
responsibility of the Open Space and Recreation Committee in detail.
There were several questions regarding responsibilities of this Committee and the overlapping of
jurisdiction with other boards such as the Conservation Commission and Recreation Committee. Ms.
Gonyer will make a summary sheet clarifying the role of the Open Space Committee for the next
meeting. She passed out the Open Space and Recreation Plan, the DCR Open Space Workbook and the
BioMap 2 Report for Mansfield.
Ms. Gonyer explained the role of an advisory board and how this Committee will prioritize the issue
outlined intheOpen Space and Recreation Plan. Once prioritize, the Open Space -Committee -can -discuss
- --
how a project would be implemented.
The Committee discussed meeting on a Saturday to visit some of the Open Space and Recreation parcels
in Town to get familiarize with all the Town's parcels. Mr. Cauldwell stated that he would lead walks.
Several members were interested in group walks
Ms. Gonyer went over the Conflict of Interest and Open Meeting Law.
