1. Call the Finance Committee meeting to order and review the agenda
Vice -Chairman Feely called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
2. Discuss and vote on FinCom meeting minutes
Motion: To approve Finance Committee minutes from April 4, 2018 and April 26, 2018 (Eagle/Desantis)

3. Presentation and discussion with Ken Butler, Executive Director of Mass Music & Arts Society (MMAS)
Mr. Butler gave a brief history of MMAS as well as an overview of what the organization does. He stated that
they are currently located in Mansfield at the Black Box Theatre at 377 North Main Street. He continued by
saying they changed their name last summer from Mansfield Music & Arts Society to Mass Music & Arts
Society to reflect their regionality. They are governed by a board and are a registered 501c3 organization.
They have one full time employee and two part time employees and are 100% funded by donations. More
than 150,000 hours go into MMAS annually.
They hope to purchase and remodel a building located on 3 acre site at 888 South Main Street, Art Center at
Great Woods, that will have excellent naming opportunities. Mr. Butler also stated that MMAS attracted
artists and visitors from over southeast Massachusetts who patronize the local Mansfield restaurants, hotels,
etc. when they have events happening.
4. Continued discussion of Finance Committee goals for FY 2019
Vice -Chairman Feely suggested the since Committee was missing a member as well as the Chairman this
evening, the goals should be tabled for another meeting. Mr. Eagle thanked everyone for sending in goals and
mentioned that he sent out the Town Manager's goals to the Committee and the Committee's goals should
align with his.
S. Discuss upcoming FinCom meetings and preparation for potential Fall Town Meeting
Mr. Eagle stated that he has the Town Manager scheduled to come to Finance Committee meeting on
September 13, 2018 to start planning for Fall Town Meeting. Mr. Desantis stated he would like to have an
update on financial matters from Town Manager and Finance Director.
