The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. at Mansfield Airport.
Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve the minutes from January 2019. Passes.
Since Jeff is purchasing a picnic table and chairs and dog exercise equipment for the new
fenced in dog play area, he will look into ordering a few hide -a -beds for cats.
Most of the meeting was devoted to a discussion of the possible cooperation among animal
control officers and sheltering facilities in Mansfield, Norton, Foxboro and Easton. Since
Easton and Foxboro have no shelters, AWC and MSF members are concerned about
implications of housing and caring for out of town animals, specifically regarding veterinary
expenses, since MSF currently pays for all veterinary expenses, and would not be able to
afford a significant increase in animals from out of town.
A meeting with Town Manager Mr. Dumas, and Ana Villella representing AWC and MSF "
and Carol Kosel, representing AWC is being scheduled. AWC members who have
suggestions or comments on the proposed cooperative venture will email their remarks to
Ana and Carol.
