Town of Mansfield
Time to request funding for next year.
Updates
Last year we ask them to bump up and match
what the state gave us. They did. The state
bumped up their grant money this year. Last
year they came up from $2750 to $5400.
We want to ask them to match the state again.
Vote unanimous.
Town Managers Strategic Development
Committee:
Town has hired a beta group to do a survey
updated to see how we are going to develop the
area around the train station.
Town has also hired a consultant to look at
parking downtown. Not practical to have
parking used for train parking.
Mission statement was mostly discussed.
Hoping area will be developed, "village"
theme. More cohesive area, encouraging
commuters to live downtown.
Cultural District:
Strategizing on who'll make up the council.
Working board, executive board. Town
Meeting is the focus.
State Cultural
Facebook account has changed, broader
Update
workings.
Grant Review
Conflict of interest form will be emailed to
Process Begins
everyone. Any grant you have a connection to,
you need to fill out a form. Not part of the
discussion or part of the voting. For perceived
or indeed conflict of interest.
48 applications this year. 43 last year. $11,815
available to gift. $22,028 requested for funding.
Some organizations have applied with more
than one application. 10 new applications.
That's exciting.
When we are looking at them they can be for
arts, sciences, or humanities. Vary
demographics for who is being served. Space
has to be accessible. We look for reasonable fee
or Free. We can reach out if application needs
following up. Funding: what has the best public
funding for Mansfield? Bulk of money for
Mansfield. Preference to venues in Mansfield
for residents. Where is the connection to
Mansfield?
Jean: happy to see Mansfield walking tour
And the one we wrote for making a map of the
cultural district. Road to Diversity and
Understanding important to have today. Panes
of Poverty was also interesting.
Annette: thinks there's good diversity. Science,
elderly, children, diversity in age groups and
topics.
Lisa: Abolition Day, Chefiatou's dance
academy was there. Special to see.
Unlocking secret codes was interesting.
