Board of Trustees Meeting - October 13, 2018

Librarians reports.
Cultural Council grant application. Kitty is finalizing a grant application due October 15.
Budget. Catherine reported that materials purchases have been accurately managed to finish
the fiscal year.
Teen center. The teen center is running well. Six students from the high school's National
Honor Society will be trying out a tutoring service on a walls -in basis once a week.
Staff development. The library will be closed Tuesday morning, October 16, for a customer
service training session.
OLD BUsrNESS
Director's goals. Catherine updated the board on progress with her annual goals.
Library Behayior Guideline Policy. The board approved the revised behavior policy with
minor syntactical edits. Catherine will post the finalized version on the library's website.
NEw BUSINESS
Staffing. Changes in staff were discussed including the resignations of Amy Rosa and
Cathleen Hellard, and new hires Nicole Garufi (library technician), Whitney Brown (information
services librarian) , and Mary Plumer (children's room assistant). The board approved a retirement
gift of $100 for Frances O'Buchon and Catherine's suggestion to seek legislative commendations for
her years of service (1998-2018).
Fine free period. The board approved November 6-16 as a fine free period, with
suggestions of donations to the food pantry for which the library is a drop off location.
RFID. Catherine recommended an inventory wand which had been deferred when the
original system was acquired. She will update pricing for consideration at the November meeting.
Next meeting. November 3. The mect� was adjourned at 10:00 a.rn.
