• Sherri Gurnon updated the Recreation Commission on the Plymouth Street Playground.
After many meetings and the hiring of an engineer to aide in making the playground
compliant with the new ADA regulations, the latest balance for the construction of the
playground came to: $369, 546. The CIP fund given to construct the playground 2 years ago
was: $75,000 plus another $25,000 was added from the Recreation Revolving account. That
was originally going to cover the playground, however, new ADA regulations have been
implemented which caused the need to hire the engineer.
DPW stated that they will do some of the work, saving $43,996. With all the costs put
together, the Recreation Department will be drastically short in funds.
Sherri Gurnon informed the Recreation Commission of a posting on Facebook regarding the
Duck Race by Trevor Humphrey stating that he collected numerous ducks that were broken
or got past the net and were polluting the stream and water. Mr. Humphrey came to a
Recreation Commission regarding his concerns Ed Westhaver stated that a second net and the
Boy Scouts were recruited to help keep ducks from getting past the net. Mr. Westhaver felt
the Boy Scouts worked very hard to get ducks that got past the net and assisted in clean up.
Mitch Bregnard acknowledged that the Recreation Commission should be made aware of
these postings.
