Subject: meeting minutes from Great Mansfield Cleanup
Here are the minutes from last week's meeting. We may also want to schedule another
meeting prior to the 11/12 meeting with Precinct Captains.
The Great Mansfield Cleanup
Steering Committee Minutes
September 23, 2008
(compiled by Neil Rhein)
At its most recent meeting, (attended by Neil Rhein, Lorilee Fish, Jay Barrows, Mark Cook,
Patricia Holiver, David Young, John D'Agostino and Lee Azinheira), the Steering Committee
for the Great Mansfield Cleanup discussed the following:
1. 2009 Cleanup is set for May 2.
2. For the most part, the process will be the same as 2008
3. We will schedule a meeting with last year's Precinct Captains for November 12 at 7
pm at Town Hall to review what can improved for 2009, cleanup routes, etc.
4. The group discussed whether it's necessary to have a post -cleanup celebration. One
idea was to have a pre -cleanup rally with coffee and doughnuts, rather than a post -cleanup
celebration. I still believe this is a simpler option. However, the consensus was that we
want to continue with the post -cleanup event. A suggestion was made to "outsource"
organization of this event to a subcommittee. Action Step: we need to determine who is
going to organize the picnic as soon as possible. We also need to confirm that the Comcast
Center will allow us to use their facilities. Neil will ask the members of the Mansfield
Beautification Committee if any of them are interested in heading up this effort. Others
should do the same.
5. Fundraising. Last year, we raised close to $5,000. We should get a letter out to
those organizations that donated last year as soon as possible. Action Step: we need
someone to write the letter and get it out in the mail.

6. We agreed to limit the number of new tee-shirts to 1,000, which will help cap
expenses.
Next Meeting is November 12 at 7 pm at Town Hall.
