September 8th, 2015 C2KS OFFICF-
Themeeting was called to Order by Chairman, Neil Rhein at 7:00 p.m&S 4Cl 15 R III 1 b

All committee members were present (Dana Hourigan arrived late): Caitlrn ana
Hourigan, Gerry Huiskamp, Bernie O'Malley, Olivier Kozlowski, Georgc)1 t , i ein,
and Charles Woods. Also in attendance was Town Manager, William Ross.
Gerry Huiskamp asked William Ross what the result of the past environmental survey was. Mr.
Ross indicated that there were no reportable hydrocarbons on the site.
Mr. Ross presented a preliminary estimate from 2010 on the cost to turn the property into a
parking lot, which would have been around $200,000. He also presented a proposed layout.
There were many ideas brought forth for suggested uses. Mr. Rhein noted that someone
suggested a tot lot via Mr. Kozlowski's Facebook post. Mr. Rhein proposed that the lot be used
for a dog park. Mr. Pantos proposed that a farmer's market/stand of some kind be constructed on
the site. Ms. Hourigan suggested that a covered pavilion be constructed on the site.
Mr. Ross asked if any of the ideas allowed for multiple uses. Ms. Barrows asked where the
parking spots would go if they were part of any of the ideas proposed. Mr. Huiskamp mentioned
that he had heard from farmers that felt unwelcome at the existing farm stand on Main St., and
wondered if the same situation would be perpetuated at a new farm stand. Mr. O'Malley noted
that ideas that would bring a lot of traffic to the "back bay" residential area around the site would
be unpopular, and asked if a farm stand would mean that there would be trucks in the area.
Mr. Ross mentioned that there's already a lot of parking available on Old Colony Way, but that it
isn't well marked. He said he was also concerned about traffic. He thought a tot lot might bring
young couples to the downtown area, and reiterated that a restroom would be hard to maintain.
Mr. Rhein asked if we were ready to narrow the ideas down. Mr. Kozlowski asked how many
ideas we have, and if we are ready to present them to the public. The general consensus was that
more thinking and research needs to be done. Another possible use of the space as a bocce court
is proposed.
The next meeting is set for September 22nd at 7 p.m.
