3. Communications
a. A letter of resignation was received from Linda Sivieri. Scott will send a thank you note to
Linda thanking her for her time on the Board.
b. HealthCare Options, Inc Contract-July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008: The contract will go from
$20,567 to $20,876, an increase of $309. The contract has been approved by the Town
and has been signed by the Board.
4. Health Agent's Report
a. Household Hazardous Waste-Latex Paint: The budget for this year's HHW Day was
maxed out at $15,000. Over ~ of the collection was latex paint, a total of 2,500 cans.
Scott would like to eliminate the collection of latex paint next year, as he does not feel this
is a very efficient use of HHW Day. He would like to set aside money budgeted for next
April to purchase a paint hardener to give out to residents. This will allow the paint cans to
go into the regular trash. It was suggested the homeowner be charged $2.00 for the
hardener.
Ray agreed the latex paint should be eliminated. When HHW Day is advertised for next year,
he would like the latex hardener information included. If additional advertisement should be
required, it will be included in the budget for next year.
b. 530 South Main Street: Ruth Tweedy has moved to Cedar Court. Scott is accepting
donations of furniture/household goods for Ruth.
c. Temporary Food Establishments: Due to the many problems in licensing temporary food
vendors, especially for samplings at the Tweeter Center, a letter was written outlining fees,
policies, application instructions and requirements for day vendors. Vendors must submit all
paperwork with the fee 48 hrs. before the event or the permit will not be processed.
d. Shared Septic System discussion, Saddle Ridge Road (Wayside Estates): Percs are still
being done on site, 3 at a time and 2 per lot. Scott told the Board the development would be
built in stages of 3 lots each.
Scott would like to ban the use of Shared Septic Systems in Mansfield to protect the
groundwater.
Ray has no problems with restricting the systems and thinks a regulation should be written
banning the use in Mansfield. Joe agreed; he does not like the system for the Wayside Estates
development being so close to the neighbor's back yards.
Scott will write a proposal to ban future shared systems for the Board to approve at the August
meeting. It will be advertised and posted with the Town Clerk.
e. Smoking Lounge: Scott wanted the Board to know a smoking lounge will be opening in
Mansfield. The Board of Health will have no control over the lounge; it will be a private
establishment.
