A new bathroom, septic system and whole-house plumbing was installed. b. Stearns Hill Hercules Powder Co.LandfiJJ: The single potable well in Mansfield has been tested and was found to have no contaminants. Hercules Co. has been in contact with the Health Agent and will review their files. At this time they are non- committal. c. Troy. 171 Ware St.: David Jones, covering for the Health Agent during the weeks of Feb. 7 and 14, 2000, made the open hole inspection. There has been very little activity at the site since that time. A load of gravel had been delivered. The ground is soft, which may be the reason why. d. Bently Porter Hazardous Waste Site. Foxboro: The closest Mansfield well is about 9,700 feet away and the farthest is about 20,000. The proposal is to excavate the hazardous material and place it in the lagoon and let it sit there with a cap over it to prevent migration. Agent will suggest to our town manager to request the town's water consultants to review this method to ensure that there will be no effect on our public water supply. There have been many years of dumping hazardous materials there. It is, however, located in the Zone n, which protects Mansfield's public water supplies. e: Household Hazardous Waste Day Contract: Four bids were received. They were from Safety Clean, Clean Harbors, Clean Ventures and General Chemical. Health Agent recommends General Chemical since they have no setup fee and their roll-off fee is $500. Most of their individual prices are lower than the others. The second lowest was Safety Clean. The scheduled date is April 8th for a half-day. MOTION: To award the household hazardous waste collection bid to General Chemical, for an April 8th collection, as the lowest responsible bidder meeting bid speci- fications.
