5. Old Business:
-Mitch Bregnard stated that he went to an Open Space and Recreation Committee meeting in
December. He asked them to clarify what their objective for the group was as they talked about a
list of 15 things the NRT felt the town should be working on and how to prioritize the list. Mr.
Bregnard stated that he thought the reason for the Open Space and Recreation Committee was to
have groups work together in their planning to make sure there is no overlap and let all
departments know what each department is working on in case there was a concern or feedback
regarding the projects.
-Ms. Gurnon gave an update on the Plymouth Street Playground. She met with Mark Cook and
Mike Ahern on getting the RFP done and reached out to Rick Alves on getting some needed
measurements. Once those are done, there is a goal to break ground in the spring.
-Regarding the potential dog park, Sherri Gurnon stated that the original space was negated by
Lou Andrews of NRT. Mr. Andrews stated that the space off Oak Street was not allocated for
use as a dog park. He gave an alternate space at Plymouth Street, near the tennis courts. After
discussion, the Commissioners felt the space could create problems. The problems start with that
there are no dogs allowed at Plymouth Street Field right now, stated by Mitch Bregnard and Ed
Westhaver also mentioned that there are lots of children down at the fields regularly leaving the
potential of an issue between dogs and children. Because of these concerns, the Recreation
Commission decided to leave it at the Oak Street location.

Massachusetts Department of Corrections. It is now before the Board of Selectmen to approve
the design and posting of the signs.
