Water Department Requests
Mr. Wilk lead a discussion of CIP policy vs. capital requests on the budget with relation to the
requests of the Water Department. Concern was raised about the number of items and the cost
of same appearing on a Special Town Meeting warrant. Mr. Mahana stated that he would like
to acquire land for an additional well at Witch Pond, but does not want to proceed with the
construction at this point based on information and a number of Water Department requests
which did of appear in the plan.
The five-year capital plan was reviewed and Mr. St. Hilaire noted that from time to time items
do come up that were not included in the long-range plan Mr. Wilk suggested that the Ash
property settlement and Witch Pond property acquisition receive top priority as well sites.
Mr. Wilk also asked if we can get Conservation money from open space bond bill or other
sources to assist in paying for them. It was stated that Dick Lewis did not think there was
construction funds availabale to assist in purchasys, the land
Ash - bond $1.3 million and place the cost to acquireon the water rates
Witch Pond - bond $950,000. and place the cost to acquire on water rates
Wellsite development: $1 million - don't have new source approval
Mr. Mahana suggested that the Town finish the Ash site and purchase the Witch Pond
property, but only do the permitting and postpone Witch Pond development at this time.
Witch Pond: $275,000. permitting
$500,000. construction

Suggest that the committee support authorization of engineering and pump test, but hold
construction money until a detailed break out of construction costs is provided.

fees to cover the costs of paramedics. After inclusion of increased fees, the actual annual cost
to the Town is $5,000.

account for 5 years to replace the ambulance.

Schools, Robert Gurek, Business Manager and Emile Giordano, School Committee Chairman,
concerning School Committee articles on the Special Town Meeting warrant.
