John D'Agostino, Town Manager; Shaun P. Burke, Director of Planning and
Development; John Sullivan, Town Engineer
Mr. Gazzolo said the town is in a $1.5 million deficit, with $183,000 debt service from
last year's CIP. Mr. D'Agostino said this proposal would add $500,000 additional debt
service, which will leave an approximately $300,000 margin in the budget.
Mr. D'Agostino said the total bonding would be $2.8855 million.
The group discussed the addition of $60,550 for a six -wheel dump truck for DPW
Highway.
Mr. Gazzolo and Mr. Gay discussed the Fire Department's request for a new exhaust
system at Plymouth Street.
Mr. Gazzolo said the School Department is adding a bond for $211,000 for textbooks.
The group discussed the background of the textbook purchase.
Mr. Gazzolo said that one of the major budget problems is that staff salaries are too high.
Motion: To support the Treasurer's request for $50,805 for payroll processing program
(Dolan-Torman) Five in favor. Aptowitz opposed. PASSES
The group discussed the new total CIP number, including the textbooks and six -wheel
truck, for $3,127,251.
Motion: To support $3,127,251 (Gay -Dolan) All in favor. PASSES
Mr. Dolan suggested the chairman meet with the Board of Selectmen and Finance
Committee to ask for their support. Dr. Torman asked if the money ($1 million) would
be available next year.
Mr. D'Agsostino explained debt service.
Mr. Gazzolo said debt service for year one would come off in year five; year six would
allow for additional borrowing.
Motion: To support $932,499 from Other Sources
(Aptowitz-Torman) All in favor. PASSES
Motion: To adjourn at 6:50 p.m. (Gay -Dolan) All in favor. PASSES
