3. Police Department Presentation:
Chief O'Neil presented to the committee the need to replace the prisoner transport wagon. The
Chief told the committee that the present 1997 F350 wagon has a good amount of body decay
and that the vehical is close to being condemned.
Chief O'Neil is seeking $45,000 for a new extended van that will be modified for police use (the
price includes cages, camera's, etc.) that will have a useful life of at least 10 years. In addition,
the Comcast Center will be buying a second prisoner transport wagon for the Town at no cost
for the taxpayers.
Mr. Trowbridge asked about where these vehicles will be stored.
Chief O'Neil said they are presently stored outside, which is a problem and advancing the decay
on the existing vehicle. Mr. Ross is hoping to have space available at a new facility on the former
Hathaway and Patterson site.
Mr. Ratliff asked if there was any value or trade in value for the existing vehicles. Chief O'Neil
stated that it is unlikely that there is any value left in the vehicles.
Mr. Clapp asked if we could gain any revenue by assisting other communities with the vehicles.
Chief O'Neil said that we do assist other communities for events (ex. Foxboro for Stadium
events), but we do not charge them since we are often assisted by their communities as well.

The committee discussed the Draft Capital Improvement Plan
The new definition was agreed upon and approved at the last meeting
