He would like to build 2 benches and 2 picnic tables near the tennis courts at Memorial Park. Sherri Gurnon asked what his time frame for the project was. Eagle Scout, Sam, stated that he had to fill out the paperwork that is required by his council. He will need Sherri to sign off on it, take the idea before his council, fundraise, build the benches and picnic tables, and have it completed by the start of the spring tennis season which is the end of March 2018. Mitch Bregnard inquired if they will be made of wood which Sam Donnellan confirmed. He will paint the benches green to match the other benches that are currently there. Mr. Doyle stated that the season is cut short and limits who can use the turf because there are no lights. If there were lights, the season could start earlier and it can be used during the weekdays to reschedule weekend rainouts. Sherri Gurnon said that funding it needed first and that the Recreation Commission would need to know the bottom dollar amount it would cost to put the lights in. Ms. Gurnon stated that Mark Cook's only concern was that money be budgeted in to include the replacement and repair of any irrigation that would be disrupted by the installation of lights. Kevin Kemp suggested that MYS formalize on paper their proposal for lights and the costs at the Plymouth Street facility and take it to Mark Cook first. Mr. Cook may have some suggestions on how he can help with the costs. Sherri Gurnon suggested contacting Joe Sollecito at the Electric Department to get information on companies that they could work with to get quotes for the project. Lary Silver inquired that after doing that, would it need to be presented to the Shaun Burke at the Planning Department, John Stanbrook (Acting Town Manager) and then to the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Silver felt that maybe reaching out to the Board of Selectmen first before starting the process. Sherri Gurnon suggested that they send a memo to the Board of Selectmen to make them aware that MYS is working on the concept of lights at Plymouth Street and would be approaching the Board as soon as they have completed a proposal to share with Board of Selectmen at a future meeting.
