Others present: Teresa Murphy, Ed Donoghue, Michael Connolly
Minutes for the September 25, 2017 Budget Subcommittee were approved, 2-0.
Jenn and Lynn will do some research into sample mission statements and to get an idea of the type of work facilities
subcommittees do in other districts.
The initial FY19 capital requests were reviewed in light of the discussion and vote at the SC meeting on November 16. The
consensus was to pull out additional items that were capital -related (such as furniture and additional technology) from the
operating budget, and to re -configure the capital request. Given the schedule with the upcoming holiday, Lynn suggested
having the SC meet immediately prior to the CIP meeting on November 28 to review and vote on any proposed changes to
the FY19 CIP requests. Teresa also reviewed the status of the research and timeline for deciding about a new reading
program for the elementary schools.
The group also discussed the timeline for the initial FY19 budget proposal being submitted to and voted on by the SC.
Teresa and Ed were aiming to have the budget prepared for the December S meeting, but that figures needed to be re-
worked based on the budget parameters discussed by the SC, BOS, and Fin Com on November 16. Lynn noted that if
necessary, the SC was scheduled to meet on December 19 and could vote on the budget amount then. The group agreed
"'.." that the presentation in December would be a very high level presentation, with the intent for the SC to be able to vote a
bottom line overall figure in order for the Town Manager to be able to submit his budget in early January.
