PURPOSE To discuss annual town meeting. 1. The Finance Committee came to an agreement on the Town Manager. Salary increase, i.e., the pension portion would be broken out and we would agree to the Selectmen's recommendations as long as they reduced other budget items. 2. The Finance Committee and the School Committee agreed on a school budget. a. The School Committee agreed to reduce its budget request by approximately $240,000. b. The Finance Committee agreed to support the additional $320,000 request to cover wage negotiations. Therefore, the School Committee will not need a special town meeting to fund their future settlement with the unions. c. Both committees discussed the potential for free cash after the rate is set. The Finance Committee reiterated that $250,000 was the minimum acceptable level. If free cash is greater than this amount the Finance Committee will give School Committee requests equal consideration with all other requests. However, we do not expect a request if free cash is below $250,000.
