Minutes for Tuesday, March 21, 2017

A meeting of the Mansfield School Committee Budget Subcommittee was opened and called to order at 5:04
p.m.

Discussion
The minutes of December 20 were approved. 2-0.
Ed Vozella gave an update on the proposed FY18 budget. Ed and John Stanbrook have met to discuss potential
budget scenarios that would get the FY18 Budget deficit to $0. Each scenario has a number of variables, such as
the amount of free cash usage and whether the scenario adheres to the town's basic financial tenets or goals.
These scenarios are going to be reviewed and discussed at the full budget subcommittee meeting scheduled for
later this evening. Ed felt comfortable with the scenario that he and John would be recommending, and he
reviewed the pros and cons of each of the options. The district would be expected to reduce the proposed
budget request in order to help close the gap, but Ed and Zeff were comfortable with the level of -the proposed
reductions.
Meeting adjourned at 5:35 p.m.
