We were well under the 10% deficit mark. Five families still have outstanding balances. REVOLVING ACCOUNT Camp has set us back in the past, and we have never recovered. This year, we are in good shape. EMBLEM CLUB Lorilee received a letter from the Emblem 'Club requesting to con- tinue the .concession stand at the "Concerts on the Common" for 1992. Lorilee thinks this would continue to include the Elk's Club with their "Chuck Wagon and she would like both groups to continue. Discussion: Lorilee thought they were great. They were always there. Commission sees no problem in letting ;them continue. REGGIE LEWIS CLINIC Pat Burns suggested that we charge $1,000.00 for the rental of the portable basketball standards to be used at a Reggie Lewis Clinic next summer. Commission thought it would be great if we could bring in'revenue .'and use Reggie Lewis. Maybe if 'Reggie Lewis was available to assist one Saturday at the Winter youth basketball program, we could charge $500.00. TABLED UNTIL MARCH. 4 Recreation Commission Minutes October 7, 1991 Page 2 N. ATTLEBORO VS MANSFIELD FOOTBALL GAME Homecoming Game - October 26 1991 at 2:00 p.m. We need volun- teers to stay overnight, Friday, in the park. This will prevent vandalism from North Attleboro. Soccer will be there until 9:00 P.m. and we have police radios in case of problems, Wayne Currie and Steve Jackson have volunteered to stay overnight. TRAVELING BASKETBALL TEAM This would be an off shoot of .the existing basketball program now in place through the Recreation Department and CYO Group. The Recreation Program will remain co-ed. Metro West is for the more skilled players. The ,players will be charged an additional fee for being on this team. Parents will be involved in the travel and coaching. The primary expenses for the school program was travel and coaching salaries. We have more coaches than we need for `Recreational lBasketball. The Players still play BOTH Recreational and travel basketball. Commission concerned about insurance and covering costs. Lorilee stated that she looked into an insurance rider. This would be approximately $500-00. The insurance agent has not gotten back to her. 'There are five traveling teams, one per grade. Rosters have not been put together. -Custodial fees are waived. ''There will be a minimum of 10 players per team. Wayne Currie motions to .accept the :proposal as written with the following exemptions: insurance and set fee of $55.00 per player, regardless of the number of players. Stipulation: get together with representatives and try to design a philosphy. Wayne would like to see professionalism. Ron seconds the motion. ALL IN FAVOR. Everything will still go through Lorilee's office. The sooner basketball gets the money, the better. Lorilee explained that it will take one week to .submit a voucher to the Treasurer's Office.
