BASKETBALL
There are 16 3 on 3 basketball teams. The basketball 3 on 3
managers would like to use the gift account monies ($3,195+
$1,125 = $4,320). They propose one new court between the exist-
ing courts (official size) at the cost of $4,000. and repair the
existing,4 backboards (straightening and leveling) at $700 for
the four which 'equals '_$4,700. Lorilee feels they would donate an
additional $26 per team to meet the total cost.
Bill MOTIONs to collect additional funds, as the managers
requested, to 'put in one new court between the existing courts at
the cost of $4,000 and repair the existing 4 backboards
(straightening and leveling) at the cost of $700 for ,the four,
for a grand total of $4,700. Maryanne seconds the motion. " ALL

VOLLEYBALL COURT
DeGirolamo looked at the old wading pool to see if it was pos-
sible to make it a volleyball court. He said we would just have
to, put in sand to fill it. We will not have to rip anything out.,
It will need irrigation. They play volleyball at the,Qualters
Middle School now.
TENNIS COURTS
We have street hockey (young) men using the tennis courts to
play. They are causing a lot of damage,; although this is not
their 'intent. I have sent them to the basketball courts, ;but
once the league begins there could have another problem. A
simple policy statement might help. I have installed'a sign at
the courts reading "Tennis Courts For Tennis Use Only".
Bill MOTIONS to accept facility use policy, which states "A park
area can be used only for the specific use it is labeled for".
Maryanne seconds the motion. Wayne Abstains
MOTION CARRIES 3:0:1.
Discussion: Lorilee will post a sign stating "POLICE ENFORCED".
Wayne thinks this policy will restrict the players.

8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to '8:00 p.m.,

tember 4, 1992.

NEW BUSINESS
Betty states that the South Common looks beautiful with all, the
flowers. Lorilee remarks that the Uncommon Commons did a beauti-
ful job.
Wayne announces that he is the .new Parks and Recreation Director
for the Medfield Recreation Department. Everyone congratulates
him.
Lorilee reminds the Commission that June 19, 1992 is the last day
to register for Summer Camp without being charged a,late fee.
BUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
A decision must be made as to the amount of scholarship money
given to each scholarship child who attends the camp. The Com-
mission does not have a family income "cut-off" figure, for ,each
scholarship family. This year we received 47 scholarship ap-
plications. If we award one week per scholarship child, we would`
be awarding approximately $1,200 to $1,300 for the summer.
Lorilee needs to send the scholarship letters out by next week.
Maryanne MOTIONS to give each scholarship child one week, which
includes the additional scholarships, up until the deadline of
May 30,'1992. Any additional weeks must be paid for by them.
Wayne seconds the motion. MOTION CARRIES 4:1. Ron Opposes.'
Discussion: The Commission will decide on guidelines in the fu-
ture for family income "cut-off" of scholarship, for next year.
Wayne thinks this is a good project for the Summer Camp Sub -
Committee.
Ron feels the first priority should be to the people who are
ppying for summer camp, and that scholarship people should be
given the weeks that are left..
ADJOURNMENT
Bill motions ;to adjourn at ;9:30 p.m. Wayne seconds the motion.
ALL IN FAVOR. ',MOTION CARRIES 5:0.
