Only one appears to be mainly negative comments. Ron offered to go over the results if help ,is needed. Bonnie has been assigned through the office. Five families still have a balance owed for camp fees. Lorilee is optimistic E that most, if not all registration fees, will eventually be collected. The total amount due is minimal ($724) compared to the total collected ($38,719). Bill Fasulo, Summer Camp Director, will be asked to attend a future Recreation ' E Commission meeting to discuss and evaluate the outcome of 'Summer Camp 1992. Summer Camp CIT's: Lorilee would like to propose that the minimum age of future CIT's be 15 years. Youth younger than this seem to be too immature and too close to the camper's ages. Future monies given to CIT's is still open to discussion. No money was given this year (as well as no bonuses to counselors). A review of each summer's performance should be a prerequisite to determine any monetary ;rewards. Is a 'good evaluation enough? Also, the number of CIT's should be =decreased to 10, a more manageable number (Lorilee's request). More competitive recruitment of CIT's would perhaps result in more serious, dedicated trainees. ` :Business Wonderful World of Horses, Providence Civic Center, voted not to purchase tickets. Disney on Ice: Both performances are at inconvenience times. Friday night show would get children home late in the evening, Saturday's would conflict with CCD and soccer. Commission voted not to purchase tickets this year. Good attendance this summer at Recreation Concerts, Movies and most especially, THE GREAT DUCK RACE. "Duck into Mansfield" was a good idea, but did not succeed in drawing a.`great amount of people even with the raffle incentive. Only 804: raffle tickets .were collected. Lorilee found it to be a lot of work, little return. The adult movie (African Queen) was the least ,popular event. Because of low attendance, none will be scheduled next summer. Mansfield News coverage of our Recreation programs this summer was sparse. We ' got little or no coverage. This was very disappointing. A new schedule/calendar of summer recreational entertainment events, that would be easier to read and refer to, was discussed. No decision was made. Lorilee will work on an idea. No group _tickets for Patriots football games will be purchased this season by the department for bus trips. Youth Basketball: League fees cannot be set until Lorilee finds out if there will be a custodial "fee charged this year. If one is required, Lorilee will _. appeal before the School Committee. Based upon the outcome, league fees will reflect that change. Mike Mulcahy is pleased that we increased his salary for the basketball program this fall. National Christian Motorcycle Assoc.: No problems at their picnic/rally. The attendance was glow, perhaps 30, at most. No police detail showed up, and did not notify _lanyone that they would not be there. The Commission members feel that a letter is in order to inquire about this lack of cooperation on their part. Ron will draft a letter. Together We Can: Betty missed last meeting, will attend future ones. The Community Forum is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, MHS, 7:00. Hockomock Football Jamboree: Very successful, in spite of a power outage. It was restored within the hour. Tree Lighting: Bill and Ron questioned if this date was _"rushing the Christmas season". Lorilee verified that it was held the same weekend last year and was well attended. We also ,should try and coincide with the merchant's shopping season. No decision made on the fate of the Park Row School or the ,playground yet. Arts & Crafts Show: 40 spaces reserved so far. No news update on Plymouth Street Project. Newport Antiques Trip" cancelled due to few reservations. Bill will contact the Easton Recreation Department and find out information about their 12 month Community Calendar, Are we interested in having one for. Mansfield? Adiournment Bill motions to adjourn (9:10 P.M.). Ron seconds.. ALL IN FAVOR. RESPECTFULLY AND TEDIOUSLY SUBMITTED BY: Betty O'Con or, Recruited Commission Member Secretary D to Wayne Currie, Commission Clerk Date 9/24/92
