Correspondence Camp Survey results - Discussion by the board members about the camp survey. Betty commented that the survey had a good response. There were some negative comments by parents such as: 1. The need for more snack time for younger children. 2. More free time. 3. Need names and list for car pooling. 4. Child got ,poison ivy twice. Ron suggested that we should head a sub -committee for the Summer Camp Program to work out problems. Bill Ciavarra volunteered for the committee to start in January. Bill Fasulo, Summer Camp Director, came to speak to the board. He was very candid on his comments for next year's camp. He would like to see the following:. A. CIT's range in age 15 to 16 years and not 13 years old. As he felt that 13 was to young to counsel other children. B. A ratio of 1 counselor to 7 children for the 5 & 6 year olds. Bill feels this will benefit the children. Due to overcrowding in the hallways, Bill would like to have a meeting with the school system to work out a better location when it rains; possibly;a room they could use. Bill's suggestions for staffing next year's Summer Camp Program: 1. Change CIT's age from 13 years to 15'& 16 year olds. 2. Interviews with prospective counselors. Roll playing for prospective counselors to see if they can handle problems that may arise in camp. 3. Have two head counselors. Lorilee and Bill Fasulo will have a meeting in January with two head counselors from last year. They will discuss with both of them problems that occurred last year. Topics which will be discussed: A. What is expected of a Head Counselor as a leader. B. What duties they are responsible for. C. How to delegate these duties in a:positive manner. 4. Staff meetings for counselors and CIT's. Have a schedule for every ;counselor. More communication with every staff member and an exchange of ideas. Suggestions for programs: Arts and Crafts- Should be set up on a weekly program with different age groups. All projects should be put into kits, ready to go. This will make 2 it easier for everyone. Counselors suggestions: 1. Counselors wanted a 10 minute break during the day. 2. Counselors in Training need more supervision.
