CORRESPONDENCE:
Memo from Lorilee Fish to Tom McShane, Master Plan Committee Acting Chairman and Master
Plan Committee Members on Area School Gymnasium Inventory - Projected Needs of 2001 dated
November 26, 1996, The Commission felt the numbers were very interesting,
BUSINESS ITEMS:
ANNUAL REPORT: Pictures of the Commission will be taken January 11, 1997. The Commis-
sion would like their pictures taken in the morning if possible. Lorilee will see if this can be done.
Summer Camp: Lorilee has sent a memo inviting the counselors to a planning/pizza party meeting
of Friday, December 27, 1996. No responses yet,
Arts & Craft Show: There is a balance of +$2,256.48 with only one advertising bill left.
Tree Lighting: Everything worked out very well. <Lorilee was approached by the Down Town
Business Association to combine our Tree Lighting Ceremony with their Christmas event. The
Commission thinks that is a very good idea. Lorilee would like to have this event the Friday after
Thanksgiving.
Community Calendar: Nancy Antonucci has contacted various groups researching interest in
selling Community Calendar as a fund raiser for their group. The response was not very good.
Most organizations think the calendar should be free. The Commission would like to keep the cal-
endar free and cut down on the number of calendars printed. They would also like to hire Nancy
to do the sales calls (this would be paid out of Jim Troy's costs).
MYBA: A parent asked if there were multiple children from one family playing basketball if we
could put a cap on the fee as with Little league, Midget Football, and Youth Soccer. The Com-
mission agreed to keep the fee structure as is ie Metro is one fee, in town is one fee. One major
cost for both programs (METRO and In -Town) is the custodial fees for weekends. Lorilee will
call the schools to see if this is a possibility.
q
Field Use:
Lorilee was requested to get the construction schedule for fields for Memorial Park, Plymouth
Street, and East Street (schools). Lorilee will get in touch with Tom Kallio from Soccer and Dar-
rel Benson and Ernie Joseph from Midget Football to inform them of any problems that may
arise due to construction/unavailability of present fields. Lorilee will contact Dan Clifford for the
construction schedule and John Larch for the possibility of lighting Plymouth Street. The work
has to be begin before June 30, 1997,
Pool Donations: Memo from Bea Kearney, Town Accountant dated December 12, 1996 stating
that she has received Lorilee's request to use the pool donations for another purpose. Lorilee will
have to, first, contact the donors and ask their permission, or, if numerous donors, determine if
Annual Town Meeting or Board of Selectmen had accepted or acknowledged the donations and if
so, request that body to change the purpose for which the funds can be used. If neither of the
above, the Recreation Commission could then vote to use the funds for an alternate purpose.
Lorilee would like to keep the money in this fund for a while. Ron would like to find out about
the possibility of building a field house.
Toddler Town - We have received a total of $1,970.80 in donations. A raffle will be held in
January which is also bringing in money.
