Attendees Present: have Leary, Chairman; Lynne McDonnell, Commission Clerk,
Members: Jim Leaverton
Lorilee Fish, Recreation Director
Tracy George, Assistant to the Recreation Director
Excused Absence: Dick Blandori, Carlos Medeiros
1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.
2. Approval of Minutes:
Minutes of the Recreation Commission Meeting held on April 20, 1999.
Motion: By Jim Leaverton to accept the minutes from April 20, 1999. Seconded by Dave
Leary. All in favor. Motion passes, 3-0.
3. Questions and Comments: None
4. New Business
A. The Elks Club has requested use of the South Common for a Flag Day Celebration on
June 14.
Motion: By Jim Leaverton to allow the Elks Club to use the South Common for the Flag Day
Celebration on June 14. Seconded by Dave Leary. All in favor. Motion passes, 3-0.
B. Lee Duclos of the Babe Ruth Baseball League has requested field use at Plymouth Street
and Memorial Park. The league is comprised of 16 Mansfield Junior Varsity and Varsity
players. Approximately 60 people in total are expected per game. The game schedule will
he as follows
June 12 5-8 PM at Memorial Park
June 20 5-8 PM at Memorial Park
July 3 5-8 PM at Memorial Park
July 13 5-8 PM at Plymouth Street
July 15 5-8 PM at Plymouth Street
July 20 5-8 PM at Plymouth Street

Motion: By Dave Leary to accept the dates requested by Lee Duclos of the Babe Ruth
Baseball League for field usage at Plymouth Street and Memorial Park. Seconded
by Jim Leaverton. All in favor. Motion passes, 3-0.
C. Use of the South Common has been requested for a one hour reception following a
christening at the Congregational Church on May 16.
Motion: By Jim Leaverton to allow use of the South Common for the reception on May 16.
Seconded by Dave Leary. All in favor. Motion passes, 3-0.
4. Old Business:
A. Lorilee plans to speak with Ed Rosa regarding use of the High School Gym for the summer
Recreational Programs.
B. The $42,000 assigned for basketball court renovations can only be used for basketball court
improvements or Plymouth Street Field #1 improvements.
5. Motion: By Dave Leary to allow the Mansfield High School Soccer League to continue to
play soccer at Memorial Park through the 1999 season. Seconded by Jim
Leaverton. All in favor. Motion passes, 3-0.
Motion: By Dave Leary to adjourn Seconded Lynne McDonnell. All in favor.
Motion passes 3-0.
6. Adjournment: 7:10 PM.
Next Commission Meeting: Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at 6:00 PM.
