Attendees Present: Dave Leary, Chairman; Jim Leaverton, Danielle Fish,
Charlotte Falkner

Deanna Black, Assistant to the Recreation Director
1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.
2. A welcome from the Commission to the newly hired Assistant to the Recreation Director,
Deanna Black.
3. Approval of Minutes:
Minutes of the Recreation Commission Meeting held on April 4, 2000.
Motion: By Charlotte Falkner to accept the minutes from April 4, 2000. Seconded by Jim
Leaverton. All in favor. Motion passes, 4-0.
4. Reservation Requests:
A. The Holy Cross Soccer Camp reservation request has been approved by a third consent
from Jim Leaverton's telephone acceptance.
B. Mansfield Animal Welfare has requested use of the South Common for the end of July.
C. Fultons Pond has been reserved on June 9, 2000 for the Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony.
A. Mike Barnhardt of the Mansfield Senior Babe Ruth League has requested three dates for
Memorial Park and three dates for Plymouth Street. One date at each park has been
denied due to previous scheduling.

5. Tabled:
A. Three requests have been made for use of the summer camp special needs funds.
B. There has been no date set for the Open Space Conservation Commission meeting
scheduled for June.
6. Old Business:
A. The Army Corp. of Engineers have been deployed to Bosnia so the Plymouth Street
project has been placed on hold for six months.
B. The Summer volleyball program is all set. The players have requested a finer grain of
sand for the Memorial Park volleyball court.
C. The Summer Adult Basketball League has eleven 3 on 3 teams and twelve 5 on 5 teams.
The lights are scheduled to be connected to the electricity tomorrow morning.
7. New Business: None.
8. Questions and Comments:
A. Dave Leary notified the Commission of an organized adult group of soccer players using
Plymouth Street on Sundays at 5:30 PM without requesting a reservation.
B. After review of the Mansfield Youth Soccer Agreement, the Commission altogether agree
a copy of the Field Permit Form be attached to the final written agreement.
9. Motion: By Dave Leary to adjourn. Seconded by Danielle Fish. All in favor.
Motion passes, 4-0
10. Adjournment: 7:00 PM.
11. Next Commission Meeting: Tuesday June 27, 2000 at 6:00 PM.
