Board of Trustees Meeting - November 18, 2017
Attendance: Nancy Breef-Pilz, Dana Hourigan, Leonard Epstein and Director Catherine

Treasurer's report. The treasurer's report was not yet available. MANSFIELD
MASSACMETTS
Librarians' reports. The librarians' reports were reviewed and highlights discussed.
Staffing. Barbara Sheffield and Nancy Holske have retired and a new circulation technician,
Melissa Chase, joined the staff on November 1.
RFID. The new system is up and running well, but with a few minor technical problems
being worked out. Tagging is continuing in the non-fiction collection and on items returned from
circulation. Overall both staff and patrons are happy with the innovation.
Teen space. Amy keeps the new teen space supplied with materials for activities and it has
become quite popular with young people.
Violent intruder training. The Mansfield Police conducted a training session for all staff.
Overdrive networking trial. The Sails, Minuteman, and Old Colony networks are
participating in a trial collaboration, allowing patrons to use their cards to borrow electronic
materials from any of the three systems.
Board vacancy. Because of family obligations John Walgreen will not be applying for
another term on the library board so there will be a vacancy as of January.
OLD BUSINESS
Five year plan. Catherine completed and submitted the library's long range plan for 2018-
2013 which was approved by the MBLC on October 12.
Goals update. The board discussed Catherine's progress on her annual goals.
NEW BUSINESS
Budget FY2019. The board reviewed the library's 2019 budget and Catherine's supporting
worksheets, primarily salaries. After the review and discussion it was unanimously voted to
approve the submission.
Next meeting. December 2. The meeting was adjourne� at 9:55 a.m.
