Program FY 1987.

announced. These are sponsored by the Health and Education Council,
1986 National Volunteer Conference.

A back-up Escort driver has been needed because of increased demand. Val
Gopian from Attleboro has been hired. Money to hire her comes from the
Special Programs fund.
A required sensitivity traning for bus drivers will be held on a Saturday
in April at the North Attleboro COA. A certificate will be given at the
completion of this 6-7 hour course.
The Board needs to choose an alternate delegate to attend the BCHCE Advisory
Board in Gale's absence. This is not expected to be more than once or twice
a year. The meetings are held in Fall River on the first Thursday of the month
from 10 A.M. until Noon.
"Silver Pages" is a publication advertising discounts for Senior Citizens.
(For example: $11 was saved for services by a local dentist.) Gale has been
accepting applications from folks who wish to receive it. The recent Home
Show was a forum at which many people became aware of "Silver Pages",
The carpeting at the DIC was cleaned on March 7th.
The GATRA van chair -lift was out of order recently. Although the backup
.% (COA Minutes 11 Mar 86) 2.
i system of hand -pumping was functioning, it is a difficult procedure. The
van is being repaired, and an older van is on loan to us.
Report of the Assistant Director:
The van carried 302 people 948 miles in February.
Old Business:
Joan Secher will join Joe Corliss and Judy Cucinotta on the COA Building
Committee.
New Business:
The Library Trustees are very supportive of COA involvement in planning a
mutually -acceptable building for future use. Dinah Amsden and Gale will visit
other centers for ideas.
The Municipal Building Committee now seats two Library trustees. It was
suggested that we write to the Selectmen to request that the COA have two
members on it as well. Gale Farrugia and Leigh Ann Foster have volunteered
for these positions.
The BCHCE home -needs assessment is due to take place in April. Perhaps
Linda Adams, our otreach worker, can take this task.
The Home and Trade Show was very successful. Although our booth was gratis
f to us this year, we ought to be prepared to pay the entrance fee next year.
The fee this year was $350. We, the COA, applauded Gale's efforts which
produced an attractive booth that drew many inquisitive people. We then
brainstormed ideas for next year.
"Senior Citizens' Month" is May. Plans include a pot -luck supper with enter-
tainment, and a trip to Boston for the Senior Fair at the Bayside Exposition
Center.
The agenda for next month includes the election of Officers.
