Vicki Prasad was absent due to illness and Leigh Ann Foster was absent. All other members were present. The Secretary's report was accepted. After review of the Treasurer's report, budget status, and warrants, it was voted to accept them. Considerable correspondence about upcoming workshops was reviewed. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: 1. We have a new bus driver to replace Frank who is taking Louis's job. le 2. The 'vial of life' program is in effect with Jaycees willing to help people fill out the forms. They will be at the DIC one day soon. 3. Gale has been asked to be on the Board of Directors of Family Services. She reports that the first meeting was very interesting and feels that that agency really does work for people. 4. There is a need for a bus aide to help people with their groceries on Tuesdays and Fridays. Gale raises the possibility of hiring someone with funds left from a grant received before she was Director. The sum of $440 does not seem ito have any 'strings' attached to it's use. It was moved, seconded, and passed that she investigate this further to determine if the money is free to use and then to draw up a plan to consider at our next meeting. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT: 1. The bus was used considerably more this month than last. There were 323 passengers who travelled 716 -miles. 2. Ada is coordinating the lunch reception for Louis this Friday. The event is expected to be a joyful affair and well attended. We are all encouraged to come. 3. There have been numerous calls from people inquiring about the cheese give- away program. The COA has noth ing to do with this. Self Help is responsible. OLD BUSINESS: The mini bus signs were up for a short while but were removed due to some complaints. The procedure to restore them was discussed with the decision to send a letter to the Board of Selectmen stating the reason for them. Ruth moved that "Mon -Fri. 8:30-3:30" be lettered on them. Joe seconded this and it was voted to include this in our request. The letter will be composed by Gale and Bob. NEW BUSINESS: Louis Antosca Appreciation Day will be Friday March 23rd from 12-2:00 pm with a cold buffet. Funds in excess of $500 have been collected as a gift for him. Joe will donate $25 to our gift account in order for us to donate $100 from that account. COAs are now being allowed to apply for grants to purchase the 16-B2 vans. 80% of the cost will be from state funds, the other 20% would be from other federal and state funds. The cost will be between $19-35,000. Gale will send the preliminary applications and follow them with another in 60 days. There may be other sources of income locally which will defray the 20% cost. Other questions raised and discussed concerned the training program available to people who want to use cable TV equipment for local events. The status of the park across the street was reviewed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm. The next meeting will be on April 10 at 8 pm. Respectfully submitted, Tricia Htme-, Secretary
