Council on Aging - Meeting of October 14,1986 - Minutes continued -
Two bus problems that were discussed at length were the failure of
the donation system to reflect usage of the bus by passengers. There is a
possibility that GATRA may require we attempt to collect a donation for every
trip that is taken. 'There was also discussed a problem at Cedar Court and
the Pick Up spot for this location. All will be gone over at the November
meeting.
The Assistant Director's Report:
In August we transported 264 persons a distance of 705 miles.
In September we transported 309 persons a distance of 983 miles.
Ada mentioned that because GATRA provided the Town with the bus
they have asked that we have a donation system toward the operating costs
and recently the amounts being collected are far lower that what could be
expected to be received on a per trip basis. GATRA could require us to be
more diligent in our efforts and we might have to institute some form of
ticket program to comply.
Bingo as run by the Center is not permitted to make a profit and
hence there will be a Birthday Party and Free Lunch in October to which all
senior citizens are welcome.
Ada reports there is still a problem with noise at the Bingo and
it was suggested that a board be used to show the numbers as they are called
and to use monitors to quiet those tables that are annoying others.
The entire group went over the 1987-88 proposed budget and made
several necessary upgrades in the operating budget plus increases for the
Director, Assistant Director and other salaried personnel.
