s Public Library Building Committees and a separate gathering of Co c {
on Aging members. F" d (,
On Saturday, February 28th, the Council on Aging and the Mansfield
Public Library Building Joint Committee held a meeting at the Library.
Chaired by Alexander Salachi, the meeting was to review the
recent display at the Home Show and discuss ways and means to achieve a
positive vote on Proposition One, the Prop 2 over -ride measure.
All members who were at the Home Show reported much good feelings
for the project from all sections of the community. Concern for the youth and
the elderly seemed to run high on the priority lists for those who stopped by
our joint booth.
A demonstration of both models of the proposed new Library and
Drop -In -Center was planned for Sunday March. 8th between 2 & 4 PM. Selectmen
are invited as well as all interested persons.
C 0 A Gathering: Following 2 hours of discussion on various ways to promote
the new Library & Drop -In -Center at the polls and at Town Meeting the joint
meeting adjourned. President Pat Hume, secretary Joseph Corliss and Bob
Marshall being the only mwmwkwra members of the Council at the above noted meeting
and there being no quorum, no official meeting could take place.
A discussion of the evaluation rating for Gale was brought up and
all agreed that the forms arrived at the very last moment and we were not able
to get them out to our people and back to Town Hall by their deadline.
In addition it was mentioned that due to a revaluation of the jobs
by the Town Manager Gale had been cut back in grade level to the equal of an
Assistant Library Director. Pres. Hume will attempt to discuss this with the
Town Manager and get him to fully appreciate the size and importance of her
position to the Town.
Respectfully reported,
Joseph F. Corliss
