DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
On Friday, April 25th, The Annual Dinner of the Bristol Elder
Services will be held at White's Restaurant in Westport, MA. The cost
to attend is $10.00 and all members are urged to attend if they can.
Joy Lee Eppes, Board member, attends meetings of the Bristol
Elder Services whenever President Hume is unable to do so. She spoke
on last years meeting and also reported there was no current news on a
proposed concert by the Clancy Brothers, to benefit Bristol Elder.
Services programs.
Gale reported on her recent trip to New Orleans to attend a con-
ference sponsored by the National Conference of Council's on Aging.
She met director's from all over the country and was pleasantly sur-
prised to find most of them were at or near her age. There were many
seminars going on at the conference, too many for her to attend them
all, however, she did attend ones she felt would enhance her programs
at our Center.. She visited two Centers in New Orleans, both privately
owned and operated, and found their operations similar to ours but
varied in other ways. She attended a Conference on Adult Day Care
and reports that this is a topic that is getting more attention these
days among Council on Aging Director's due to todays life-styles. The
working couples with aging parents to care for are seeking Adult Day
Care as an alternative to placing parents in nursing or convalescent
homes. Lois Thomas and Joy Lee Eppes informed the Board of the Black-
stone Valley Adult Day Care Center in Bellingham and of some of its
programs. Gale will make an effort to visit the facility and ex-
change ideas with this group.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
In March, 1959 our bus transported 350 passengers a total of 1335
miles. we were without the bus on one day.

OLD BUSINESS:
Joseph Corliss and Gale both reported on the progress of the new
Center.. The Town Plumbing Inspector has ordered that we provide a
grease trap and a two bowl stainless steel sink for our kitchen. This
was brought to the attention of the Building Committee and the matter
will be resolved shortly. As of tonights meeting there is no firm
date for our moving into the new facility. We had hoped for a late
April date or. by May ist but the kitchen must pass the Inspector's
approval first. By May lst we should definitely have an occupancy
permit and we can plan to move in as soon thereafter as Gale can ar-
range things.
NEW BUSINESS:
Gale announced the appointment of Althea Sankey as Co-ordinator
of Volunteers. She will be working 15 hours a week and will be a
welcome addition to the staff at the new Center..
Joy Lee Eppes spoke on the Fundraiser Raffle of a special quilt
to benefit the new Library/Council on Aging Trust Funds. Raffle
tickets will be available shortly.
Vicki Prasad will be entering Norwood Hospital for a check-up
shortly and depending on results she may have to go to the New England
Medical Center. We will all miss tier if she is hospitalized for any
length of time and we will pray for a successful outcome of her
visits to these medical facilities.
on a motion by Sonja Walgreen, seconded by Joy Lee Eppes the
meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM
