The state will be funding a total of $5 million over the next five years; the Police and Fire Departments are requesting $600,000 for the radio system now. Mr. Schoonveld suggested considering putting aside $50,000 a year for radios. The group discussed projects from FYI 5, 16 and 17 that still need to be done, including the fire station generator and Plymouth Street fire station improvements. Concerns such as whether the available funds are sufficient to cover today's costs and why, if the project was a higher priority, was it not undertaken right away. The group would like department heads to provide written updates on the projects that have been approved, as well as information about whether the numbers are still accurate if the project was approved more than three or four years ago.
