Volunteers. Althea Sankey was honored along with others from

February are as follows: 19 work days, l storm day (no COA programs),
18 days of programs; 420 incoming calls were logged, and 650 people
signed in for programs.
Old Business: Nutrition Task Force—Gale reported that she is a member of the
Nutrition Task Force at BESL She told the Board that there may be some
changes put in place in the meals program. There will no longer be frozen
meals, possibility of low-fat milk only, and lunch bags will no longer be
used. The use of plastic bags, rather than paper, has proven to be a
problem since it is very labor intensive to pack in the narrow plastic bags.
Mansfield COA has purchased a 6 month supply of paper bags for the
Mansfield HDM program.
New Business: Mansfield Triad—Gale announced that Mansfield Triad is
starting some new programs. The first, Yellow Alert, is a "file of life" kept
in cars. There is a yellow alert sticker kept on the window to inform
rescue staff that there is medical information kept in the glove box. The
other project is one in partnership with area Triads. It is the purchase of
electronic monitoring bracelets for people who have illnesses or dementias
and who wander. This program is through the Sheriffs Office, and
bracelets are $300.00 each. Gale asked if we could pay 1/2 of the cost for
Mansfield's participation, the money coming from the Trust Fund. Donna
Issued a motion that the COA use $1,000.00 from the Trust Fund to cover
start-up for the program. With a 2nd from Ben, the motion passed with a
unanimous vote. Protective Services—Gale informed the Board about a
case in which the COA is currently involved. The case involves a senior
who is in need of services and incapable of self care. Gale filed an Elder -
At -Risk with BESI, and, after 45 days and another incident, BESI had not
yet moved to do an evaluation. Gale called BESI to discuss the further
need for this person to receive supervision, and BESI indicated that the
investigating worker said that she was having trouble getting a good
assessment for this person --to cooperate and agree to having her come to
see him. Our case worker was able to visit, do an intake, have him agree
to accept services, including meals. As of 3/8/05, it was 51 days.
(Update: Gale was notified that the caseworker did make contact with
him and case was opened by BESI as protective.)
Housing Task Force: Donna had nothing to report
BESI Report: Mary reported that she attended the Makem Brothers concert. It
was very nice, and BESI published a program with business names. Mary

program—Eames Insurance and Barrows Insurance.
