EMERGENCY MEETING
I s Present: Chairwoman Doris Webb, Paul Boyden, Charles
Meszoely, Dianne Royle, Jane Sheehan, Stuart
Sweet
Cabot 'Pond: Coms.'Boyden, Royle, Sheehan, and Sweet reported on
their ;on-site inspection of Cabot Pond with Stephen DiLorenzo of
the Army Corps of Engineers on Tuesday', October 28, 1980.' Appar-
ently, Messrs. Chavaree and Willis had proceeded wi`thout`a permit
from the Corps because a staff person who is no longer with the
Corps of Engineers had verbally authorized them to do so. Since
they were working without the necessary Corps permit, however, the
Army Corps of Engineers issued them a Cease and Desist Order. The
Corps' principal concern is with the stockpiling of material in the
wetland. The Fish and Game people are concerned with the amount
of swamp area which has been destroyed and have suggested that an
island be constructed in the middle of the pond to [provide a haven
for the wildlife that have lost their homes due to the destruction
of the swamp. Of immediate concern is the sedimentation problem,
particularly, noticeable in front of 211 Willow Street. The purpose
of this meeting was to give the developers permission to go ahead
with the construction of a sedimentation basin as directed by
Stephen DiLorenzo of the Army Corps of Engineers.
MOTION: To send a letter to Messrs. Chavaree and Willis
approving of the construction of the sedimentation
basin to be located northerly of the main corrugated
culvert under Willow Street within the Cabot Pond
excavation area and to be built to the specifications
outlined by the Army Corps of. Engineers.

in the wetland area.
