Town Well. Sites: Coms. Meszoely, Rys, Sheehan, and Sweet; visited
the proposed Town well sites with Chad Maurer last 'weekend. The
main problem the Commissioners have with the 'Town's proposal is
the 50 -foot wide road they are planning. They feel this is much
too wide a swath to clear. There was also a. question as to whether
or not the power lines would be underground.
Blocked Culvert on 'Ware Street: 'Coin. Royle reported on al telephone
call she received from Mary Hughes, 775 Ware Street, complaining
about 'water in her basement caused, she contends, by the pipe
that was ordered blocked by the Conservation Commission. She
stated that she had not been notified ;that the pipe was to be
blocked and had she known about the hearing on this matter she
would have attended to ro-ster her opposition to this action.
Chairwoman Webb viewed the trouble spot after receiving a'complaint
from Mrs. Barbara Jones, 776 Ware Street.
Kevin Delenoit, 779 Ware Street, attended the meeting to voice
his vehement; opposition as well as that of Mrs. Hughes to the
blocking of this pipe. He stated that as of Saturday, March 22,
there was nine inches of water above the top of the open pipe
and that there would not have been a problem if the other pipe
were open. Chairwoman Webb briefly outlined the history leading
to the blocking of the ,pipe to Mr. Delenoit,':who moved into his

Com. Meszoely pointed out that the effects of this blockage

to receive these complaints.

in the near future with DEQE staff to, get their advice and
recommendations on writing Orders of Conditions for pond 'develop-

Leon Grant's Pond Development Project: Com. Rys stated that he
has no objection to the engineering for Mr. 'Grant's proposed
pond. The only stipulation he would suggest is that the 'swamp
be maintained as it is to serve as a cleansing agent for the
water from the pond before it travels downstream. 'Com. Meszoely
agreed with this and made the suggestion (although he would not
make it one of the conditions) that Mr. Grant consult with Dr.
Carr upon completion of the pond as to the proper vegetation and
animal plankton to be introduced into the pond.
At this point, Coms. Royle and Rys made an appointment with Mr.
^ Grant to visit the proposed pond site on Sunday, March 30, at
9:00 AM. Com. Rys left the meeting at this time.

hearing on Monday, 'March 31, He stated that he and Dr. Carr
would like to know 'whether the State has done any hydrology
work regarding the 'Rumford River area. Mr. Willis' basic
question concerns the invert of the pond in consideration of
future development of Cabot Pond. (He, together with Robert
Chavaree, have filed a notice of intent for the restoration of
Cabot Pond.),`
