MINUTES
PACE TWO
Mrs. Jellinek (League of Women—Voters) - Salt Storage Shed: Mrs.
Jellinek informed the Commission that the League of Women Voters
would like to receive notification in writing of the Commission's
decision concerning the salt storage shed. Mrs. Jellinek
stressed that the League feels strongly that this situation should
be corrected (i.e., the salt shed removed from this location) as
soon as possible. Chairwoman Royle stated that as soon as Com.
Sweet reports on the literature the Commission has accumulated
concerning the storage of salt, the Commission will be able to
request DEQE's advice on possible courses of action.
Ken Larsen - Chauncy Place: Mr: Larsen, accompanied by Ralph
Maloon, shared with the Commission plans for a shopping plaza
behind the Copeland Square building. The Planning Board had
suggested that the surface water from the parking lot be drained
(via a drainage easement) into the nearby brook. Mr. Maloon
explained that the parking lot has more than the required number
of sump basins and that this drainage to the brook would be to
handle more than a ten-year storm. In order to install this
drainage pipe, it will be necessary to work within 10 feet of the
brook. It was agreed that Mr. Larsen should complete and return
to the Commission the "Request to Determine..." form before the
Commission makes a determination concerning the necessity of holding
a Wetlands Protection Act Hearing.
Shepard -Nelson Pond Development:
MOTION: To send a letter to the applicants requesting that the
following matters be addressed at the continuance of their
Wetlands Protection Act Hearing:
1. A data report from an environmental specialist/hydrologist
shall be submitted;
2. Section K of the Environmental Data Form ("Alternatives
to Proposed Action") shall be addressed more specifically.
3. What effect will a 17 -acre pond have on Willow Street,
since Willow Street serves as a dam for Cabot Pond?
4. We have contacted DEQE and the Conservation Law Founda-
tion to request their legal opinions regarding the
removal of the buffer zone between Cabot Pond and
your proposed pond. We are awaiting their replies.
