Chauncv-Creeden Streets Sewer _Line: Ralph Maloon appeared before
the Commission in anticipation of filing a Notice of Intent for a
sewer line to be installed in an easement granted by three-four
property owners to the applicant, who will also require a hearing
for the filling of a wetlands in connection with the situating
of the Apple Tree Diner, to which the sewer line will run. Mr.
Maloon's question was how to file for this entire project.
Chairwoman Royle agreed to seek DEQE's advice on the best manner
in which to handle this situation and get back to Mr. Maloon with
this information as soon as possible.
Allen Brown - Balcom Street: In light of continued neighborhood
complaints and adverse media publicity, Chairwoman Royle requested
that Allen Brown discuss his projects further with the Commission.
Mr. Brown explained that he was able to relieve the ponding of
water at the front of Lot 3 by installing a six-inch pipe under the
driveway, a method he plans to employ with Lots 1 and 2 as well.
Lots 9 and 10 retained water after these recent heavy rains because
of the excavation for the leaching fields on Lot 9 and for the house
foundation on Lot 10. Mr. Brown indicated that the houses already
erected have not experienced water in their basements.
Chairwoman Royle reminded Mr. Brown that he must consult with the
Commission before working on Lots 4 - 8. In response, Mr. Brown
indicated that Lots 4 and 5 are dry; Lots 7 and 8 will not involve
work within 100 feet of a wetland; and Lot 6 will require discussion
with the Commission since the proposed driveway will be within 100
feet of a wetland.
Mrs Jellinek (for the League of Women Voters) - bait btorage au -u
Mrs. Jellinek reviewed for the Commission various correspondence
concerning the salt storage shed from the League of Women Voters,
Health Agent Walsh, Whitman & Howard, etc., and requested that the
Commission make a decision as to what action, if any, they plan
to take in connection with this matter.
MOTION: In view of the fact that the Town continues to salt roads,
which directly deposits water into the Canoe River, and the
fact that the Town is addressing the problem of the location
of the salt storage shed, to close the file for the time
being on the salt storage shed.
(Durbano - Sweet; all in favor) VOTED
MOTION: To send a letter to the League of Women Voters advising
them of the Commission's decision and suggesting that they
attack the more crucial problem of road salting rather than
the salt storage shed which should be moved within the next
year or two. -
