MANSFIELD CONSERVATION MONDAY,, OCTOBER 39 1983COMMISSION MINUTES PAGE TWO B_aravella Property Commissioner Webb spoke with the real estate agency and told them we are still interested in purchasing this property, however, at the time we don't have enough money. She told them we were considering Selfhelp funding and possibly purchasing a portion of the 30 acres. Mrs. Webb told them that unless we received some sort of commitment from them, the Commission would not be willing to go to lengths to purchase the property, or a portion of it. She suggested the possible need for an option to buy. In regards to the -;purchasing of this land, Chairwoman Royle spoke with the Planning Director concerning the Master Plan. Mr. Mannarino told Mrs. Royle that it was on the back burner. He also told her that at present he was researching the qualification of this land under the Aquifer Land Acquisition Program. Chairwoman Royle spoke with Marydee Flynn concerning Self: -Help. Mrs. Flynn told Mrs. Royle that you apply to Self-help first then you purchase the land. She also mentioned that we were the only board pushing for the Master Plan --the Conserva- tion Commission is in need of the money to purchase land. A motion was made by Commissioner Webb that a letter be sent to Town Manager Maurer, with a copy to the Board of Selectmen, saying we feel a Master Plan is vital to our land aquisition _ program, and that we are very interested in purchasing a piece of land and need to apply to Self -Help. Without a Master Plan, we cannot appy for Self -Help. If we had even an interim Master Plan, we could apply. Since Self' -H&P is willing to give us 50 to 80 percent funding, it is in the best interest of the town to have an up -dated Master Plan in order to take advantage of State funding. MOTION: To send a letter to Town Manager Maurer with a copy to the Board of Selectmen stating we feel a Master Plan is vital to our land acquisition program, and we are very interested in purchasing a piece of land and need to apply for Self' -Help.
