The December meeting of the Trustees of t.
Public Library was held in the Meeting Room of ,i"LaLy
on December 2. at 9 AM. Since secretary, Doreen Tighe, was
not present, at the beginning of the meeting, the reading of
the minutes was waived. The financial report was approved
despite a slight discrepancy between the bank and the
treasurer's report. Alex will meet with the bank to review
their statements, and hopes to "computerize" the 1990
finances.
The Fundraising Committee did not meet: however, a
meeting should be organized in the near future to clarify
that the money will be spent by the library and the COA.
Dinah stated the difficulty in defining the library's
accounts with area businesses when other organizations Ke:
Fundraising. Friends) use the library name and address.
Such organizations must use their own name to keep the
accounts clear.
The Building Committee did not meet: however, a final
agreement roust be reached so the contractor can be paid and
the account closed out.
The Personnel Committee will meet on Thursday_, December
28 at 7 PM in the Library Director's office.
A letter from the Town Manager concerning the Meeting
Room Policy was discussed. The policy was reviewed. Colin
will meet with COA Chair, Trish Hume, to devise a .joint
response to the Town Manager.
The position of Reference/Readers' Advisor was
discussed. Dinah was asked to look for a candidate who is
approachable and "people" oriented. She/He should be
familiar with popular fiction, as well as the Mansfield
community.
Doreen Tighe, whose trusteeship expired December 31.
1989. informed the board that she will not reapply for the
position.
The meeting was adjourned until Saturday, January 6.
1990 at 9 AM.
