The January meeting of the Trustees of the Mansfield
Public Library was held in the Trustees' Room of the library
on January 6, at 9 AM. The minutes were .read and accepted.
The financial report was distributed and approved. Alex met
with a representative from the Mansfield Cooperative Bank
and obtained a copy of the 1988 interest report. Our books
now match the bank records. Alex will work with Dinah to
put the financialrecords in a computer program.
The correspondence this past month contained an
invitation to the renaming of the Newton 'High School Library
to the Edward 'Beatty Memorial Library. There were also
notices of magazine subscriptions which were sent as
Christmas gifts.
Colin reported on the Building Committee's meeting.
There are still problems concerning the landscaping, and the
heating system in the new building. The architect has been
informed, since the heat might be due to a design problem.
The Fundraising Committee did not meet due to a death
in Gerry Abbott's family.
The Personnel Committee's meeting was cancelled. It
has been rescheduled for Monday, January 22, at 7:30 PM.
A letter to the Town Manager concerning the Meeting
Room Policy was drafted by Colin and Dinah, It was sent to
the Council On Aging, but did not meet with their approval.
The COA Board will meet on Tuesday, January 9, at 8PM, and
members of the Library Board are invited to attend to
discuss this matter. Dinah cited two issues in the existing
[Meeting Room Policy which were questionable. A discussion
followed concerning these issues. Nancy moved to ammend the
Policy, which was seconded by Alex. A vote was taken: 3 in
favor, 0 opposed, 1 abstaining.
Reorganization of the Board occurs during the January
meeting, Alex moved to allow Dinah to chairthe meeting
during the reorganization. It was seconded by Nancy.
Nominations and ,elections followed. The new Library Board
is as follows:
Chair: Alex Salachi
Vice Chair: Colin Cauldwell
Treasurer: Alex Salachi
Recording Secretary: Nancy Breef-Pilz
Corresponding Secretary: Jeff Ptaschnik.
A motion was made to allow Alex to chair the remainder of
the meeting.
