The correspondence this past month contained a note from the Mansfield / Norton League of Women Voters who have disbanded and sent a donation to purchase history books. There was also a notice from MLA interpreting the Library Bill of Rights concerning access to videoes. A copy was distributed to all board members to read and discuss during the next meeting. Although the Building Committee did not meet this month, Steve McCaffrey, committee chair, feels the remaining problems concerning the new facility should be cleared by the Spring. The heat problem seems to be alleviated . The Personnel Committee will meet on Saturday. March 3. prior to the next Trustees' meeting. Colin represented the Trustees at a COA Board meeting and found they are now in favor of a Meeting Room Policy including fundraisers and a fee schedule. Since no new policy has been written, the present policy had been approved by both boards: therefore. it stands until changed. Alex will draft a letter to Town Council regarding liability of non -staff when closing a town building. Jeff questioned the need of the COA van to be parked in front, of the building when NOT loading or unloading. Dinah will discuss this matter with Gail. The new Reference/Readers' Advisor position was filled by the successful candidate, Silvia Campbell, who began work on Tuesday, January :30. After reviewing her resume. Colin made a motion to accept her appointment. It was seconded by Nancy, A unanimous vote approved it. Due to a lack of signs within the library. Colin will go through the building with Dinah to locate areas and the signs needed. Circulation statistics continue to rise. The January totals which reached 10.000 included increases in all areas: youth, adult and non-residents. A brief discussion was held concerning an increase in the fine schedule. Although the board is opposed to it. they will keep an open mind when meeting with.the Finance Committee. The Trustees' meeting was adjourned at 11:20. The next meeting will be held Saturday.
