MINUTES OF THE MARCH 3, 1990 MEETING ,Aii_-

ATTENDANCE: Colin Cauldwell, Alex Salachi, Jeff Ptaschnik,
Nancy Breef-Pilz, Dinah Amsden
The March meeting of the Trustees of the Mansfield
Public Library was held in the Trustees' Room of the library
on March 3, at 9:15 AM. The minutes were read and accepted
by Jeff, seconded by Colin. Alex highlighted major areas of
the financial report, and will leave the full report in the
folder for all to investigate thoroughly.
The correspondence this past month contained a note
from the Town Manager requesting a file on Sylvia Campbell,
the new Reference Librarian. As with all library staff, her
file will remain in the Library Director's office.
The Finance Committee has requested a meeting with the
library trustees on Saturday, March 24, at 1:30 PM to review
the library budget. The trustees will meet at the library
at 12:30 that day, _then meet with the Finance Committee.
Although the Building Committee did not meet this
month, Colin cited a problem which the Conservation
Commission has noticed concerning the rear fire door which
leads into the wetland area. They will arrange a meeting
with the Building Committee todiscuss this.
The building suffered a major electrical failure on
February 20, which caused the building to close. Wires were
replaced by the;Mansfield-Electric Company; however, the
real problem was a lightening rod. Jeff requested that If
future events cause the library to close, the trustees be
notified.
The Fundraising Committee did not meet; however, Alex
received>a -copy of a letter sent to the Town Manger from Ken
Parsons outlining the allocation of funds from the
fundraiser. Alex will investigate this matter, and also
request information from town council concerning the
Trustees' Trust Fund and the establishment of trust funds
"after the fact".
The Personnel Committee met on Saturday, March 3, prior
to the Trustees' meeting, and continued to write the Staff
Manual. Copies will be in the folder so all trustees can
read and comment on it. The next meeting will be Saturday,
April 7, at 8 AM.
Dinah met with Gail to discuss changes in the Meeting
Room Policy; however, no definite changes were made. Alex
will add to his letter to Town Council questions concerning
the liability and legality of fundraisers by non -town
organizations.
