MINUTES OF THE SATURDAY, JANUARY 3, 1998 MEETING jOn
ATTENDANCE: Nancy Breef-Pilz, Leonard Epstein, Joseph Flynn, Chris Cormier

The January meeting ofthe Trustees of the Mansfield Public Library was held on
Saturday, January 3, 1998 in the Certuse Room of the library. Nancy called the meeting
to order at 8:20 A.M.
Secretary's Report. Chris read the Secretary's report which was approved with no
corrections.
Librarian's Report. Leslie presented the librarian's report. The sprinkler system
has been repaired and tested. The ABLE terminals have all been rewired.
Welcome and Introduction of New Trustee - Joseph Flynn. Nancy welcomed our
new trustee and Joe introduced himself, including his background and his goals -0f working
as a trustee.
OLD BUSINESS
Budget `99/Meeting with FinComm. Leslie presented the final `99 budget. Our
meeting with the Finance Committee is set for Tuesday, Januaryb, 1998 at 8 P.M. Nancy
encouraged all trustees to attend.

Security Cameras. Leslie presented her findings about the purchase and use of
security cameras at the library. At this time, Leslie and this Board do not feel that -the
purchase of these costly surveillance cameras will be of use to us in attempting to stop
vandalism. The Board tabled this issue:'
Goals: Mid -Year Report. Leslie presented her Mid -Year Goals and Objectives
Report.
NEW BUSINESS
Slate of Trustee Officers. After discussion, Chris made the motion, seconded by
Joe (vote was unanimous) that the following slate of officers be adopted for the 1998
year:
Chairperson: Nancy $reef -Pitz
Vice Chairperson: Vivian Sweet
Treasurer: Chris Cormier Hayes
Recording Secretary: Leonard Epstein
Corresponding Secretary: Joseph Flynn
Approval of January Program. Leonard made the motion, Joe seconded (vote was
unanimous) to approve the following Program: Lizzie Borden: The Mystery Continues
presented by Christopher Daley, to be held on Tuesday, January 27 at 7:00 P.M.
Vis. Leslie presented the December gifts.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00 A.M.
The next Trustee meeting is set for Saturday, February 7 at 8:00 A.M.
