Scott Leite, Health Agent for the Town of Mansfield spoke to the Committee about an Automobile Hazardous Waste Day being held on April 29, 1989, between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm to accept anti -freeze, oil, batteries, tires, etc. Mr. Leite felt that it would be a good idea for all the towns involved with CRAAC to hold an Automobile Hazardous Waste Day on the same date next year. Possibly the month of April could be Canoe River Awareness Month and hold many different events in April. There was a discussion pertaining to election of officers and whether we should set up guidelines. There was not much interest by the committee in doing so. June will be annual election month and elections will take place at our June 1, 1989. Our existing chairman, co-chairman and clerk will type up job descriptions for their positions. Nominations will take place on the day of the elections. There was a discussion on how much publicity CRAAC receives. At our May 4, 1989 meeting Wayne Southworth hopes to show a video of the aerial shots taken of the Canoe River. Wayne Southworth discussed the Robert Lemire course that was offered by the NRT of Easton. NRT will continue with another group to help educate land owners. William Hardin discussed Waste Oil Legislature. Bill #5108 was heard on March 16, 1989. If this bill is passed Towns can charge a fee to any person selling motor oil at retail sale and issue a permit. CRAAC will send a letter to our Representatives, Senators, and Joint Committee on Local Affairs. Press Release discussion will be discussed at our next meeting of May 4, 1989. Ed Tartufo discussed the road race and that it would take about 200 volunteers and would put this beyond our reach. Ed Tartufo submitted information to Wayne Southworth on an aerial photo company that could be considered to do aerial photos. Deborah Graham indicated that DEQE does not have aerial photos of the Canoe River. William Hardin is researching parcels of land that have not owners on record in the Town of Easton. Money is being voted at their annual town meeting to hire a land court lawyer to handle these parcels. CRAAC will send or give Anastasia Kanellopoulos a letter of appreciation for all her work on CRAAC. She will be leaving her job as Planning Director in Norton and will no longer serve on CRAAC.
