HL VIDEO PROJECT The Committee discussed the Canoe River awareness video project. Foxboro Cablevision Access is still interested but there has been no progress on this. Members of CRAAC had seen a video produced for the Plymouth County Wildlands Trust. Kathy Romero was researching the availability of grant money to produce a similar video for CRAAC. W. PLYMOUTH COUNTY WILDLANDS TRUST PRESENTATION (RECAP) Chairman Southworth told the Committee that Ms. Gail Sadori of the Plymouth County Wildlands Trust had attended the September 1, 1994, meeting. She showed a 10 minutes video on her group. The members commented that the video was very professional and would like to produce a similar one if grant money became available. LAND ACQUISITION PROJECT Kathy Romero, Conservation Agent for Norton, told the Committee that her town was pursuing the purchase of 57.5 acres of land on the comer of Newcomb and N. Wash- ington Streets. The grant application process was discussed. It appears that there may be money available in the category of Federal Land and Water Acquisition funds. Mr. Flynn stated that he had prepared a map of Mansfield and was in the process of identifying all the "desirable" parcels throughout the Town. It was recommended that CRAAC develop a specific agenda for land acquisition. VI. WINTER ACEC/WATERSHED MEETING Chairman Southworth recapped last year's winter meeting. The conference was very successful. It was decided that the committee should focus on common interest for the forum. Kathy Romero highlighted some different agendas for the night. Several members asked about charging for the event, who would the target audience be, and if this was something that local colleges would do as a project. The choice of nights was also discussed. VII. RIVERWAYS PROGRAWSHORELINE SURVEY BOOK REVIEW The committee was informed about the recent Eagle Scout Project in Foxboro. There was a write-up in the local newspaper. It would be a good idea that at the next Foxboro meeting is this scout was invited to present his project to the members of CRAAC. The Shoreline survey booklet was distributed to all members that attended the meeting. VIII. OLD BUSINESS The Committee discussed House Bill Number 1588. It mentioned that the Canoe River Aquifer Advisory Committee was a sponsor on this bill. However, there were questions as to whether CRAAC was a sponsor or if they were a supporter. A motion was made to send a letter in support of passage of Bill #1588 (Flynn/Iagatta) The motion passed 10-1-0 (Ed Tartufo was opposed). Mr. Sean Flaherty of the Taunton River Alliance told the Committee about the recent auction that they sponsored. The project raised approximately $3500 to support their cause. IX. NEW BUSINESS Kathy Romero prepared a document that was funded through a National Geographic Education Grant. This paper is for geared for High School students, it shows how the communities were settled around power and vernal pools. Phil Barske asked how a new resident would find out about CRAAC and other water related issues. He stated that many of the new residents were not familiar with the sensitivity of the local water supply. Presently there was not a pamphlet developed when there was one it could be developed through Welcome Wagon. Chairman Southworth received congratulations from the group on his receipt of the National Award for Meritorious Services given by the New England Water Professionals.
