Wayne asked all to review mailing list and make any additions. Len suggested that
it might be helpful to add planning boards to mailing list and Shirley asked to add
Mike Maynard to list also.
Kathy Romero reported in conjunction with the Land Acquisition Project that a
Wheaton College student volunteer would be available for 5 weeks during the
month of January. Suggestions were that maybe he could work with IEP map of
the 5 towns. Maybe parcels could be prioritized. Wayne mentione that he has
a 6' - 6$' map also. Len Flynn said he had already identified parcels and his
informat'on could be of use to that student. Jim Watson said DEM may have maps
available and Kathy will call to check. This will be an on-going project and
the student will begin 1/4/94. Questions that':need to be address as to the
classification of land... Open Space—definition not really clear. Maps should also
be uniform as to land use.
Kathy and Wayne are trying to finalize plans for winter workshop. They are
hoping to get some finacial help from Norton Arts Council, Plymouth County
Wildlife Trust and also hoping that Ocean Spray will help to cover costs
which will be in the range of $1,500. They are looking for CRAAC members to
be facilitators at the workshop.
There was discussion for the plans relative to the February meeting. Foxboro
High School Eagle Scout.'. will make a presentation. Suggestions were made as to
publicizing program and who to invite..students as a whole or just interests
people. Need newspaper coverage. Location and time to hold meeting were also
discussed. Dan will confirm and advise Wayne. Invite DEM, Adopt -A -Stream Program,
Bill Keating and Barbara Hyland. Also maybe ask Bill keating to bring a citation
for student presenting program. Bill Harding pointed out importnace of making
ry-- young people aware of the importance of aquifer protection and suggested it may
be best to invite only those students interested.
Next there was a lengthly discussion relative to Spring Awareness Day. The date
suggested was 5/13/95. The location was quickly decided upon.. Greely's Pond in
Foxboro. Site is interesting since there are trails, picnic area and psssibly
canoeing available. Joan said she would ask Dave Risch or Bill Hawkings (Chair-
man of CONCOMM) to give a tour. Need for a tent and toilet facilities was also
discussed. Dan Iagatta is going to check with a business in Foxboro to see if
a donation may come forth. Ed Tartufo suggested interested students could be
invited. Rotary Club could also be invited and maybe could bring their "Chuck
Wagon".
Next draft copies of Annual Report were handed out and reviewed. Wayne thought
it would be well to list each member at end of report since it goes into each
Town Report. Ed suggested that each town should list only their members in the
Town Report. Jim Watson thought a line explaining the purpose of the committee
should be added to the first paragraph. It was suggested that in Paragraph 6
it should be mentioned that the Foxboro Rotary was the group that adopted a
stream. Motion by Joan to accept with above changes seconded by Dan.
Next Mike Maynard (Brown Student) gave overview of the work he would be willing
and able to accomplish on the video project. He solicited ideas as this project
would be a "self-directed program". Wayne discussed information already gathered.
Length of video and content was discussed. Points mentioned included that it not
be too long, education of people as to how their actions affect our fresh water
supply.
Wayne thanked Mike and Sean then wished a Happy Holiday Season to all and
meeting was adjourned at 2:55PM.
