VII. GREEN BELT PROJECT UPDATE Leonard Flynn and Maurice Goulet
Maurice, Leonard and Wayne met with Neil Fennessy of:UMass/Dartmouth to
"discuss the compatibility of the various databases on which we have the
necessary information to complete the mapping of the Zone 2 of the Canoe
River. Each town seems': to have their data in different formats. All of
the maps: must be scanned, and map and lot numbers need to be furnished
to the 'team of students. The university will be purchasing some new
equipment and new software to be able to work on the task. This,
unfortunately, will mean that they will have a: very large learning curve
before much work can be: produced. Some of the: equipment will be
purchased from a minority firm and this will keep the project within
guidelines. Mass. Highway has cleared .'.the return of the excess land
:around `:Route `495 to the town of Norton. The. Commonwealth is working with
`due diligence' to facilitate the transaction. No other state department
is interested in the land. Jack Hamm (DEP) questions the progress of
flyers to describe the Green Belt Project. Work is in progress as aerial
photos have been taken. He also reminded us to keep an accounting of our
time spent as part of the agreement of the grant.
Jack Hamm wanted a recap of the Stormwater Seminar as he arrived late.
The mailing list was discussed. The presenter for the seminar is
unknown at this 'time 'as there have been some changes at DEP.
Fred Watson asked Jack Hamm what he knew about the new piggery in
.Norton.:'A letter was read from ''.Barney Frank's ;%office about the piggery.
More discussion followed.
