The meeting was opened by Suzanne Shaver at 7:00
Members present: Chairperson Suzanne Shaver, Joan Fabian, Dawn
Martin, Marilyn Healey, Margo Lemieux, Jackie
Babcock and Carole Duclos.
Guests present: Allison Cobb
Major points discussed:
I. Extend reimbursement period 1 year - vote was taken, it
passed unanimously.
A. Mansfield Families
B. Qualters Middle School
II. Review Nutcracker Funding
A. If they are funded, MCC will request a copy of the
permission slips to ensure MCC funding is acknowledge.
B. Send notes to music teachers about acknowledgement
requirements.
III. Election of Officers - the slate was accepted as is.
Chairperson - Suzanne Shaver
Treasurer - Dawn Martin
Secretary - Marilyn Healey
IV. Conflict of Interest Criteria was reviewed.
V. Review of Grant Applications
A. Date for Reconsideration was set for November 21.
B. Grants approved (see attached).
C. Total Grant Requests = $18,903.00
1994-95 Allocation = $5,377.00
VI. Address Christopher Gray's letter concerning his painting.
A. Motion was made to return his painting to him.
The motion passed unanimously.
VII. 1995 Meeting Schedule
A. Set for January, March and May - exact dates will be
coordinated later.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.

Suggested Topics for Review of "Nutcracker" fuh'ding '(tentative agenda)
1.Cultural Council introductory comments (chairperson)
Postion-supports tradition of "Nutcracker" event
(historically the mcc has contributed up to 1/3 of its total budget to
this event—$1000)
Recognizes the challenges posed by issues of timing of funding and
council's reimbursement method.
Goal -to examine and possibly revise the current funding process
in order to-
1.comply with state requirements
A. public acknowledgement of state funding
B. funding applied to specific event (vs. general fund)
2. increase communication among those involved (mcc, PACs,
music teachers, others Q) )
3. investigate possibility of mcc funding reducing the amount paid
by each student. The council would like to help each student
directly.
2. Obtain Information re: process of distribution of mcc funds to this event
(MEAL Representative)
Who gets what when? (Implications for acknowledgement - when?
where? by whom?)
3. Inclusion of music teachers in the process(?)
communication, planning, acknowledgement, and/or application
(music teacher representative)
4. Possibility of reducing amount paid by each student
