Seifert, and McNatt
Joseph Zeneski, DPW Director
1. Meeting called to order at 7:30 P.M.
2. Correspondence
Chairman Stearns informed the Committee that he received a
letter from Bertram Cook, Inspector of Buildings; and Joseph
Mannarino, Planning Director; advising that Aliceann Loder
may no longer continue as the DAC's secretary, and suggests
that the DAC search for a new secretary. It was the concen-
sus of the Committee to offer this opportunity to Town Hall
employees first.
Motion: To check with the Planning Director on possible
secretaries within the Town Hall who may be
interested in the position.
(Seifert - Genatossio, all in favor) VOTED
3. Downtown Grant
Joseph Zeneski said that over the past year, the Committee
has held numerous meetings to discuss this project. A plan
has been approved and drawn up by the engineers. Mr. Brown,
who owns Catalano's Liquor Store, brought it to his attention
that he has a concern with the plans, and Mr. Zeneski has
been working with him to resolve his concern. Mr. Brown's
concern focuses on the road in front of Catalano's: Mainly,
the entrance that he would have into his parking area off
Church Street.
Ned Richards, who is Mr. Brown's lawyer, said that the plan
does two things:- It abolishes existing curb cuts and puts
in an island. He informed the Committee that the rear part
of Mr. Brown's building is a loading area where there are
two to three deliveries per day.
Mr. Brown presented a plan which proposed to leave one curb
cut as is, eliminate one, and move one closer to N. Main St.
They would also like the ability to make a left hand turn
and suggested cutting the island back.
2 Joseph Zeneski suggested putting a curb cut/entrance off
4 North Main Street into Catalano's. This would exit out on
Church Street with a right hand turn only. He noted that
they will also be gaining parking spaces along North Plain
Street, which do not exist presently.

Motion: That the Committee instruct the Public Works
Director to investigate the feasibility of
planning for a curb cut, at the southwesterly
boundary, from the new curbing into Catalano's
parking area at approximately the location
shown in pencil on the plan: Curb Cut A

There was discussion between the Committee members regarding
cutting back the island. Richard D'Onofrio noted that he
feels there will be a real problem with cutting back the
island in regards to the traffic flow because of the parking
spaces.
Statement: We would like to have Joseph Zeneski study
the feasibility of cutting the island down
to allow a left hand turn from Old Colony;
in conjunction with the cooperation of
Mr. Brown to make sure his customers do not
come out of the parking area down North
Main Street and that Mr. Brown close off his
parking area at night by way of a gate.
