Minutes of Meeting 10/30/74
OPENED: 7:30 P.M.,'
Members Present: David Clemmey

OLD BUSINESS:
1. A motion was made by John Gilleran/Gerald Najjar
to accept the referenced letter (See Attachment #1)
and forward it to the Board of Selectmen for
comment.
Vote -- 3 Aye
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Dennis Hannon presented for our review his revised
budget for fiscal 1976. The budget was modified
with respect to the eliminationand consolidation
of line items.
The Finance Committee share the following views:
1. 'Repairs of vehicles should not be combined with
gas and oil.1
2. ',Contract items should be listed: separately.
3. Telephone should not be combined with water.
o v:,,.e;.,.A Frnm 1Tnwn Ctnimni 1 ' n Rummary of his Aro Dosed re -
(See Attachment #2).,
3. Received a notification from the Town Manager that the
deadline for our budget submittal has passed. (See
Attachment #3 and 4)=.
=1
Note: Budget was submitted on Oct. 24, 1974
4. Town Treasurer (Joan Cutillo) informally notified our
Committee of the current.financial status of the high school
( roof. Apparently a delay in submission of the environmental
impact statement to the Emergency Finance Board (EFB) has
-2 -
resulted in delaying approval on the bonding for the
f. high school roof. The Municipal Building Committee feels
that the town should proceed immediately to apply temporary
patching until the bonding obtains EFB approval. The esti-
mated cost is x%$10,000. The emergency nature, appears to
be due to weather limitations. The temporary patching should
be started before November 25, 1974.
ACTION:
The Finance Committee unofficially does not view this
as being unforeseen in nature due to the apparent lack
of 'action taken; by the Municipal Building Committee
in obtaining an environmental impact statement.
The Finance Committee will schedule a joint meeting
with the ;School Committee in an effort to clarify this
issue.
5. Received formal notice (See Attachment #5) from the Board
of Health of pending; costs which will warrant ,a transfer
at a future date to account #451-5 "Tuberculosis Care".
ADJOURNED: 9:05 P.M.

Gentlemen and Lady:
This letter is to inform the Board of the resulting
view and action the Finance Committee has taken in regard to
the police overtime account. (See attached letter.)'
The Finance Committee discussed this issue at our'
September 25, 1974 meeting. In summary, the Finance Committee
cannot understand the necessity of replacing Sergeant Wynn
with another officer at time and +a half'. Would it not suffice
for an auxiliary policeman to replace Sergeant Wynn at regular
pay? We would appreciate your views in this matter.
Very truly yours,
onald R Mc Aa %ui
